the Sea’s Melody

I hear the sound of the sea,
right off the shore, swoosh swoosh
through its consistently tremendous surge,
 Astonish me
With its endless power

I hear the sound of the sea,
during a quiet midnight with a full moon, shhh shhh
through its slender rising and falling tide
Spawning my soothing
and eventual sleepy dreams

I hear the sound of the sea
when I am sleeping on the beach, hush hush
Imagine its incredible immensity
Ahh! Dreaming about my amazing melodic journey
with moonlit sky and shimmering vast ocean

Self Publishing Project
For the self publishing poem project, I wrote "the Sea's Melody". I chose sea as my topic because it really astonishes me and I want more people to hear the graceful sound of the sea.

Writing a poem is quite easy, but how to publish it will somehow be difficult for me. At the beginning, I actually have no idea of how to let more people read my poem. I went to many places, including Old Barn Community Center, UBC Campus, UBC Bus Station, UBC Bookstore, Science building, Norma Rose Point, and the beach. In Norma Rose, I met two people who shared their own opinions about my poem.

Throughout this project, I learned not only how to write a great poem but also some communication skills and social experiences. Although it is not perfect, I use these skills to do more things better.

This is my own video of my process of publishing my poem.

I also made a small music video of my poem "The Sea's Melody". I chose the beach as my background because it really fits with my poem's content.

My Ipad

You looks like a patient teacher
who always helps me out of trouble.
like a profound dictionary
that immediately offers me various knowledge.
like an omnipotent doctor,
who cures my illness.
like an electronic Bible, like a multi-functional map,
like a magic world,
like a intimate friend
always accompanying me everywhere,
even in the bathroom.
like a convenient correspondent
so I could always know what my friends are doing,
like an automatic diary
recording every part of my life
like a time traveler
telling me the long history of the world
like a forecaster
leading me to the new scientific technological epoch.
You also sounds like a diligent worker,
who consistently serves me in the whole day,
and expect for the new electric power
to give you enough energy.
like a weak plant,
that can't live without wifi
like a respectful senior,
knowing many things in our lives,
like a naughty kid
often playing games and watching movies with me,
like my second world,
though it looks pretty small.

A Blue Sky

(A poetic response to William Carlos William's "The Red Wheelbarrow")

so much depends
upon

a clear blue
sky

without any dark
clouds

like a smooth
mirror

A relaxing and significant winter break have ended.

Although I didn't do some travelling, I stay at home for rest and watch many thrilling American movies.

I also did many work such as math, science, and also the English Pride Project.

Poem for Ms. Hancock

Ms. Hancock was a huge tree,
with dense and tidy leaves,
protects us from the furious storm.
We gain genial warmth from her,
absorbing sufficient flourish,
in order to become powerful.
But she finally dies,
after a incredibly horrible tornado.
Since her death,
we must survive independently,
without any genuine care.

A Tragedy

A Poetic Response to"The Sound of Hollyhocks"

Oct.29th

Rock is dead
several month after his wife's death
Who breaks apart them?
Rock's Mom does that?
It's hard to say that.

I could hear Rock's blame
Of why he was born in the world
No decisions, No happiness.
Those are all dominate
by the sophisticated rules and tradition.

His death highly reflect
the statue of the society.
It's the world that kill him,
Without any struggle
for his favorite life.
